Our last WestPac 1971 unrep on Yankee Station was a consolidation with our sister ship the USS Wichita (AOR-1), during which the Commodore also shifted his flag and staff from Kansas City to Wichita. The following images are of that unrep, and are in the order originally shot.

When preparing to come alongside for the unrep, Wichita blew her tubes, sending a huge cloud of black smoke and soot skyward. Our skipper, Capt. Craven, sent a flashing light message to Wichita's skipper asking if he was burning "black oil or coal?" (BH)
