AMATEUR RADIO MOBILE PAGE
My HF mobile station consists of an
Icom
IC-706MkIIG HF/VHF/UHF transceiver, a Texas Bugcatcher from Henry Allen, K5BUG, at
GLA Systems, and an LDG AT-11MP autotuner.
One change from the installation shown in these pictures is the Bugcatcher mast. A four foot mast
is shown in these pictures, but a two foot mast is currently in use. Because the fixed mast support
is only about a foot above the mast base, this left three feet above the support, and the wind loading
on the antenna caused it to slowly bend slightly. Hence the change to the two foot mast.
A Kenwood TM-261A is used with a 5/8-wave whip
for two-meter FM.
Following are some pictures of the mobile
installation in my 1998 Dodge
Ram 1500 pickup. Click on any of the thumbnails to see a full sized image.
K2BJ also has a web page
with a lot of excellent information and pictures of HF mobile installations.
I'll post more pictures of my own mobile installation when
I have it finished.
