Present Rig
The rig I am using now is a Icom 746PRO The Yeasu 990 is a little noiser than the Icom so I am using it mostly at the moment.
The 990 has long been back from Burghardt's and works fine.Am looking at a FT DX3000 to replace the 990 in the near furture.
A Gap speaker sure make them all better even the Icom.
The amp is a Kenwood TL922A, which I have had for ever, well
nearly. It just returned from Burghardts for repair (band switch) AND a new
pair of tubes. The whole thing cost about what I paid for it 26 years ago.
It replaced a 4-1000 in a 6 foot rack with all the
accoutrements. W7HC used to call it my electric furnace. I wish I
had a picture of it.The Pace 2 Meter rig has been retired since the 746 has 2 meter.
Below is my latest project. It is software defined radio using the european dongle and sdrSharp software
as per Bob Nickels W9RAN article in Jan 2013 QST. I have finally got my panadapter i have dreamed of for years with out having to pay thousands. I recommend reading the article even if you do nothing. The top half of the screen is HRD control program controlling a Icom 746pro.
