Meeting Minutes

January 8, 2004

Meeting location: Mr. Gatti’s on Hwy 620

Call to order: 6:05 p.m.

Secretary’s report:  The minutes of the Noember meeting are posted on the web site and hard copies were available at the meeting.  Larry Gensch moved to accept the minutes as written, Tom Nevue seconded and the group unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s report:  Tom Nevue reported on the account balance.  Dan Cronch moved to accept and John Benedict seconded and all present approved.

Old Business

220 Repeater Project:  Three cavities have been donated to the club for the 220 repeater.

Holiday Party:  The Holiday Party was a big success.  With good food and a private room for our group, the Mesa Rosa restaurant was a great place for the event.  Elmont was not there to accept the “special” gift, so his wife accepted on his behalf.  She promised to re-wrap it for Elmont to open at Christmas.  Everyone suspects that this one might turn up again next year.

3M Half Marathon:  Will be on Sunday, January 25, 2004.  (Dan Cronch presented an update on the race and instructions for volunteers after the business meeting adjourned.)

2004 Club Officer’s:  All of the 2003 club officers agreed to serve another term in their present positions.  They were welcomed with hearty applause from the group.

New Business

Antenna Problem:  We need to plan a project to repair the problem with the 40-meter antenna.  John Benedict agreed to climb the tower, now that we have all of the necessary climbing gear.  John will schedule a workday soon.  Please volunteer to help.

Skywarn Severe Weather Spotter Training:  The Skywarn training is scheduled for Saturday, February 28.  The agenda has been set.  Larry is planning the event with local meteorologist Troy Kimmel.  The barbecue lunch will be delivered and served by a new caterer.  Tom Nevue will handle soft drinks.  Larry Gensch and Tammy Maté will be the emcees.  Volunteers are needed for setup, escort, lunch, etc.  This is the 15th year that we have hosted this event and it is the only advanced Skywarn class offered in Central Texas.  There should be about 200 people attending.  Talk in will be on 146.90.

Dues are due!  Please pay your dues to Tom Nevue.  Regular and Associate membership dues are still only $8.00.  Make checks payable to 3M Amateur Radio Club.

The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m., so moved by Elmont Hollingsworth and seconded by John Benedict.
