Amateur Radio is a service and a hobby of self training, inter-communication and technical investigations carried on by amateurs i. e., by persons duly authorized under the rules and interested in radio technique solely with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest.
     Amateur Radio Operator is popularly known as HAM. It is an acronym combining the first letters of three great radio scientists, Hertz, Armstrong and Marconi.
HAMs use transceivers (transmitter & receivers) to communicate with one another throughout the world. It's a wonderful media to make friends worldwide and exchange ideas, views, explore different cultures and lifestyle of each other. 
    
     It's a great tool to bring the whole world in to your station, in to your room. If you are a HAM, you will never fill alone. Some body, some where, is always there to give you a company. It gives a good opportunity to explore the unknowns. How fascinating it's, when you come to know that you are talking to someone in minus 30 degrees, while you are enjoying your hot summer at 42 degrees ! !
HAMs are all from different walks of life. One may find a Doctor discussing an electronic circuit with an Electronic Engineer or an Engineer, discussing the medicine with a Doctor. It's just a platform to discuss anything and anytime, about yourself and your friend.

     Amateur Radio is a Service to the Nation as well. It provides the opportunity to serve the country, the people and above all the Human Mankind.
During Natural Calamities like Flood, Earthquake, Wide Spread Fire etc., the services and communication setup rendered by the HAMs are well known and highly recognized and appreciated world wide.
Many lives has been saved due to effective and timely help provided from the Loyal HAMs all over the world during Distress and Emergency situations. Many distress and SOS signals by the Airlines and Ships has been picked up by the Amateurs and the proper follow-up actions and timely help has saved lot many lives and property. Amateur Radio Operators are proud of their services.
