I am just sharing my design of a HF transreceiver project I am making for my friends from the VU2 land. This project is not going to be easy or difficult and I am doing it in parts, solely for the purpose of learning the behavior of NE612 IC in my design. I would be updating this webpage on a weekly basis and hope to receive some response from viewer on the forum. I have got 5 nos. of PCB etched and if required , am ready to share them with enthusiastic homebrewer. A PDF file of the schematic and overlay is also available for download.

Firstly I would like to take up the receiver part and conduct my experiments upon it. The receiver is a simple text book design found every where on the net for any band HF SSB receiver. My addition to this design is the varicap tuning part. This design uses two NE612 and a 4 pole ladder filter made up of 4 MHz Crystal. The intended band for the purpose of experiments is 20M (14Mhz) and hence the local oscillator would be around 10 MHz up. This would be a SSB/CW Superhetrodyne Receiver. I have already assembled all the critical components on the PCB and I am looking for some help from other in selecting the values of the capacitor (C11, C4, C5, C6 & C12) used in the ladder filter. The circuit is broken up in two parts and is show below.

The overlay of the circuit is available in the zip file for download.
