No One Can Make India Kneel

Dr.Manmohan Singh

"They do not know we stand united"

New Delhi: In a forceful expression of the country's resolve to fight terror, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday told the enemies of the nation "no one can make India kneel."

In a short but assertive address to the nation, the Prime Minister said, "it is not the first time the enemies of the nation had tried to undermine our peace and prosperity. These elements have not yet understood that we Indians can stand united. That we will stand united. They have not yet understood that we will never let them win."

Dr. Manmohan Singh, speaking in English and Hindi, commended the people of Mumbai and Srinagar for returning speedily to normal life the day after the blasts and grenades. "This is living proof of our contempt for terrorism," he said.

Commending the "good work" done by the police, security forces, railway staff, firemen and medical personnel in responding to the blasts, he conveyed the nation's sympathies to "those who have lost their loved ones."

The Prime Minister was full of admiration for the people of Mumbai. "Mumbai stands tall once again as the symbol of a united India. An inclusive India."

He said none could come in the path of India's progress. "The wheels of our economy will move on. India will continue to walk tall, and with confidence."

Dr. Singh assured the nation that "the United Progressive Alliance will do whatever is required to deal with the challenge at hand. We will win this war against terror. Nothing will break our resolve."

The Prime Minister ended his speech by urging people to remain calm: " Do not be provoked by rumours. Do not let anyone divide us. Our strength lies in our unity. Let us stand together as one people," he said.

Prince Of Arcot Condemns Blasts

CHENNAI: Prince of Arcot Mohammed Abdul Ali has strongly condemned the serial blasts in Mumbai on Tuesday. Terrorists should know that bombs and bullets would not fulfil their demand. Tuesday's act was one of cowardice and savagery.

No religion in the world preached violence and killing of innocent people, he said in a statement here. The culprits should be brought to justice, without fear or favour at the earliest. A thorough, fair and impartial probe should be conducted into the blasts. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.

Muslims Condemns Mumbai Bombings

Muslim community's condolences for the loss of life in the recent bomb attacks in the city of Mumbai.

These senseless and brutal bombings, like similar attacks in London and Madrid, must be condemned and repudiated by people of all faiths. Those who carry out such crimes only serve to harm any cause they claim to represent. We offer our sincere condolences to the loved ones of those killed or injured and call for the swift apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators.

No political cause will be served through these inhumane acts of violence against innocent people.

As Muslims, we want to state clearly that those who commit acts of terror in the name of Islam are betraying the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh). We reject anyone - of any faith who commits such brutal acts and will not allow our faith to be hijacked by criminals. Islam is not about hatred and violence. It s about peace and justice.

Fatwa Against Terrorism

Islam strictly condemns religious extremism and the use of violence against innocent lives. There is no justification in Islam for extremism or terrorism. Targeting civilians life and property through suicide bombings or any other method of attack is haram or forbidden - and those who commit these barbaric acts are criminals, not "martyrs."

The Quran, Islams revealed text, states: "Whoever kills a person [unjustly]it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind." (Quran, 5:32)

Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) said there is no excuse for committing unjust acts: "Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil." (Al-Tirmidhi)

God mandates moderation in faith and in all aspects of life when He states in the Quran: "We made you to be a community of the middle way, so that (with the example of your lives) you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind." (Quran, 2:143)

In the light of the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah we clearly and strongly state: (1) All acts of terrorism targeting civilians are haram (forbidden) in Islam. (2) It is haram for a Muslim to co-operate with any individual or group that is involved in any act of terrorism or violence. (3) It is the civic and religious duty of Muslims to co-operate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of all civilians. We issue this fatwa following the guidance of our scripture, the Qur an, and the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

We urge all people to resolve all conflicts in just and peaceful manners. We pray for the defeat of extremism and terrorism. We pray for the safety and security of our country, and its people. We pray for the safety and security of all inhabitants of our planet. We pray that interfaith harmony and co-operation prevail both in the India and all around the globe.
