 Profile of ‘AMSAT-IN’

AMSAT-INDIA has been completely changed & re-designated as AMSAT- IN for better reflects the needs of its members and also to realign it to the national status. 

AMSAT-IN recognizes itself, as Indian National branch of AMSAT-NA, for which, myself is the National coordinator/convener/Scientist. AMSAT-IN represents the Indian body branch of AMSAT-NA and provides various services for local hams and others interested in these areas . 

AMSAT-IN (a Public research non-profit voluntary nature service organization) constituted itself as a Hams research group within Indian zone, which is aimed to form a National apex Government body of Hams with the representatives of Government, International agencies & others for its experimentation, research & development, particularly for satellite projects work, in accordance with the (AMSAT-NA) International byelaws. (As Incorporated with non-profit corporation act & Tax exempted status) .

Principal Objective: To Promote, chanallise & develop all existing resources particularly communication resources & satellite communications for socio-economic benefits of the nation & International understanding.

Brief Introduction:

(AMSAT International Technology Partner).

 In space education, and particularly the use of satellites in education, is to play a significant role in the education of engineering students, then there must be provision for them to obtain direct access to space technologies to be able to experience for themselves the advantages and limitations they offer. Also, the relevance of space education to the curriculum must be made clear before it will be accepted as an integral part of the educational process, and there must be adequate support in terms of curriculum materials, Live projects, Bio-Informatics, Embedded Systems (as part of the students Final Engineering Degree Curriculum) and in-service training. This support is provided by the AMSAT-IN spacecraft Engineering Research Programme, and the Indian satellites in Education Programme.

 Hamsat Construction:

HamSat has been constructed by AMSAT-IN and ISRO. It carries two 1watt linear transponders, an FM beacon.

AMSAT-IN  is a non-profit public researh ngo organisation & has applied for and has been granted an OSCAR number for HAMSAT. In future HAMSAT will be referred to as VUSat-OSCAR 52 or VO-52.

HamSat developed/constructed/designed by VU2NUD, VU2NCS, VU2ROC/JES under the licenced banner of call-signs: VU2ROC & VU2RRG. and launched by the courtecy of Isro authorities from its PSLV rocket along with its IRS- cartograph remote satellite - to provide worldwide communication services.

After launch, the main payload  CartoSat 40, was deployed, and 40 sec later   HamSat was released.

VO-52 Designation & authorization:

AMSAT IN requested an OSCAR number for HamSat, thus obtaining the designation VO-52.

VO-52 weighs 42.5kg. It has the shape of a parallelepiped measuring 630x630x550mm. Its has Gallium Arsenide solar panels, and ionized Lithium batteries. It rotates at a rate of 4 rpm.

Legal authentity of AMSAT-IN

AMSAT-IN & its ample authorization and power is given to lawyer Mr. Uma shanker for requesting, from the competent authority, the legal entity for this Foundation and the approval for these statutes, giving him also said authorization and power to accept the modifications which the President of the Republic of India may find convenient or necessary for the implementation of this Organisation according to the law. Authorization is given to the bearer of an authorized copy of the present document for requesting proper annotations, inscriptions, and sub-inscriptions in the respective registers.

AMSAT - Italy President Mr.Paolo Pitacco, IW3QBN, offered a free transponder for a ride and co-existence of HamSat. 

Ownership of HamSat:

The overall management, ownership of the spacecraft HamSat, frequency of operations, tracking, ground stn operations, commanding, etc, etc, is vested with AMSAT-IN.

VU2RRG Satellite Earth Stn of AMSAT-IN:

Satellite Earth stn. equipment:  FT-847 HF+V.UHF ALL MODE TRANSCEIVER.

It gives all mode operation on the HF., 50 MHz, 144MHz and 430 MHz bands with full-duplex satellite HamSat operation and its capability, featuring DSP, the FT-847 Earth Station.

AMSAT-IN is a Not for Profit, non Governmental NGO organisation - a recognized world AMSAT partner affiliate organisation in India.

India has long had a recognized national organisation, AMSAT-IN, and registered "VUSat/Hamsat" on 04-July-2005 with IARU.

Prof.Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam favourably agreed to launch INDIA’s Small satellites like his first designed  SLV 3, during his zealot participation with HAM Scientists in the recent  HAMs meet & EDUSAT conferences, he emphasized the need to implement and expressed his views and suggested to implement Micro/Nano satellites like HAMSAT(VUsat), ANUSAT(building at Anna University), through moon bounce meteor scatter operations, specially on Angaraka-Graha (Mars planet) through advanced technologies(Bluetooth, cavotic image Encryption Decryption, Robust transmission of wireless technologies) with small sub-systems payload structural modules like space robot , digitalker, CCD camera for taking pictures will serve the nation for meeting any emergency or natural disasters.
