Propagation maps created with HamCAP

September '08 in New Jersey, USA

I was in Edison, NJ for nearly a month and had an opportunity to visit with the NJDXA folks. I met some great people at the NJDXA Annual Picnic where I was invited as a guest. Thanks to Rich, K2WR aka. GJ2A for driving me down to the Old Troy Hills Park in Parsippany where the picnic was held.

I enjoyed the wonderful barbecue and 807 in the midst of long chats with many of the members. Hopefully next time I will be operate from NJ with my US Extra call W2PTT :) I shall post some pictures from the meeting here soon.

August '07 in California & AF6DV

Thanks to the wonderful people out here in California like Dick N6AA & Marty N6VI, who encouraged me to take my US Ham exam during a casual discussion just the day after landing in LA. I now have a US Extra class callsign - AF6DV.

Visiting as many ham meets as possible has been taking up my spare time. It's been a great experience with the wonderful warmth of California hams. Some of the meets attended include:
  • TRW Swap Meet
  • Southern California Contest Club meet
  • Southern California DX Club meet
  • Santa Barbara Hamfest
I have also been doing some visiting. Some of those fine stations include:
  • Caltech University Super Station - W6UE
  • Ray - N6VR
  • Dick - N6AA (operated IOTA & WAE contests)
  • Don - NK6A
I will be posting some pictures soon. I should also thank Dick N6AA, Marty N6VI, John VK4UC/W6KNC, Art W6XD, Don NK6A and Cliff WW6CC for so graciously driving me around to be at these places.

I'm Traveling - July/Agust 2007

I will be in Santa Monica, California for nearly 30 days starting end-July to end-August 2007. I hope to meet some of the fine hams in that area during my stay and maybe work a contest or two to get a taste of contesting from the West Coast USA.

Hi folks ! Thanks for visiting my web site. Please, please go back to your radio after you have seen my pages. We need as many hams on the air as possible to keep the hobby alive, and get more people interested in it.

I have been off the air for a long time and moved QTH thrice. I am now back on the air as of September 2006 with an Icom IC-746PRO and a Force 12 Sigma 5 vertical. I hope to have better antennas soon and see you all in the contests.

- 73 de Pras, VU2PTT.
