            Vigyan Prasar is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Vigyan Prasar   & National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) are engaged in science and technology puplarization tasks through a widerange of programmes and activities.
                Considering the importance of ham radio,ham radio popularizing activities have also been incorporated in their programmes. Few years back Vigyan Prasar & NCSTC developed a low cost 7 MHz CW QRP equipment. Vigyan Prasar runs a club station (Call-sign: VU2NCT) which is the only ham radio station located in a Ministry campus (Located at theTechnology Bhawan, Ministry of Science &Technology, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi-110016). Vigyan Prasar intends to impart technical training to the people interested in ham radio.
            Vigyan Prasar is in the process of building up a nationwide science club movement under which a science club network has already been functioning (called the VIgyan Prasar NETwork of Science Clubs- VIPNET).
                Incidentally, this web site is  a result of its effort to popularize ham radio through the Internet!

                It may also be mentioned that the Head of the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) & Adviser to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, Dr. Narender K. Sehgal (who is also the Director of Vigyan Prasar) himself is a ham radio operator (call-sign: VU3NKS). Dr Sehgal is a "Kalinga Award" winner-the highest international award in science popularization offered by UNESCO.
            Dr. V.B. Kamble, VU2VBK, the Director of Department of Science & Technology is also a ham radio operator and the founder custodian of the VU2NCT club station.
