About the Repeater Society of Palakkad
Repeater Society of Palakkad is a registered society (80/96) for Amateur
Radio operations.
The Society maintains the VU2BCM VHF Amateur Radio Repeater which is the
Repeater with the highest coverage area of about 400 kms. Click here to know more

The society also maintains the Experimental Amateur Radio Data Network (EARDN)
which has been operational from April 1997. Click here to know more about EARDN.
The society also conducts Amateur Radio Licensing Examinations under its sister
organisation, Institute for the Development of Advanced Radio Communications (IDARC).
Besides this the society conducts various activities to promote the growth and
development of Amateur Radio and it also helps the physically challenged to enter
the world of Amateur Radio.
About the VU2BCM VHF Repeater
The Repeater is installed in Nelliyampathi Hills of Palakkad District in
Kerala,India. Located about a elevation of 4000MSL, the Repeater covers about a distance
of about 400kms which is the largest coverage area of a repeater in India. It covers
about 75% of the Kerala State, some parts of Tamil Nadu. During good propagational
conditions stations from Bangalore and Madras can access the Repeater. The total
Power Output of the Repeater is 7W and is solar powered. During power failures the
Solar panels are used for charging the batteries.

Celebrating The First Anniversary of the VU2BCM Repeater
The Repeater Society of Palakkad is celebrating the first anniversary of
the VU2BCM VHF Repeater on 20th December 1997 at St.Mary's Island in Cochin. A dinner
is also arranged at the venue. The dinner will start after 21:00 pm. A boat ride
to the venue is also arranged !

The Experimental Amateur Radio Data Network (EARDN)
The Experimental Amateur Radio Data Network was established in April 1997.
The network is in the experimental stage and it almost has the same coverage area
of the VU2BCM Repeater. The network has a main BBS at the Nelliyampathy hills.
