SYDNEY GOLD AWARD
SPONSORED BY THE VK-DX ASSOCIATION

NEW AWARD FOR 2000
SYDNEY GOLD - The gathering of Nations Award, created by a group
of DX
oriented Sydney amateurs under the name "VK DX Association",
aims to
encourage contacts with amateurs in the Sydney region during the
year of the
2000 Olympic Games. The award will be available to all licensed
amateurs and
SWL's around the world between 1 July and 31 December 2000.
The Award will be issued in three levels:-
"Gold" for contacts on three or more bands,
"Silver" for contacts on two bands,
"Bronze" for contacts on one band.
Stations making contact with Sydney amateurs for the purposes of
this award
are required to log the relevant postcode along with normal
signal reports
for each contact. Sydney amateurs are requested to give their
postcode (zipcode) to
stations contacting them. Sydney postcodes are 2000 to 2249, 2560
to 2570
and 2745 to 2770.
Contacts must be 2 way on the same
band and mode, no cross-band contacts
are allowed. Repeat contacts on the same band with the same
station in the same
mode are not allowed within a 24 hour period.
All bands, including the WARC
bands and all emission types can be used.
Maritime and aeronautical contacts are not allowed.
Overseas stations, except ZL, are
required to contact a total of 15 Sydney region
stations on one band or a total of 15 on any number of bands
APPLICATION to be in simple letter English showing the following information:-
Full name, call sign, postal address to which the certificate is
to be posted and
identification of the award level applied for. A log extract
certified by 2 licensed amateurs, not related to the applicant, containing the VK
call sign of the station worked, date and time in
UTC, band, mode, signal reports sent and received and the
residential postcode of the VK2 station.
Shortwave listeners. All the above rules apply but in addition,
the log must show the callsign of the QSO partner of the VK2
station
ISSUE OF AWARDS
Certificates will be issued after 1 January 2001. Applications
will not be accepted after 31 December 2004. Please use airmail
and early lodgements are encouraged.
The cost of the award is $10US including airmail and packaging. VK and ZL stations send $10AUS.
Cheques, money orders must be in Australian currency. Please do NOT send IRC's
NOTES FOR SYDNEY STATIONS
For Sydney stations only, contacts via repeaters are allowed in
order to encourage local limited operators to obtain the award.
Mobile stations are to use their home postcode. Mobility is
encouraged.
