Smoother Seas

 

A calmer Easterly breeze with only a ½-1m swell makes ideal sailing 

conditions.  Cruising speed is 9.2kts over water.

Current estimates suggest arriving at Mellish Reef just after change 

of UTC day, Friday morning, about 10am AEST.

The Bach & Byte will moor off the reef in deeper water and the 

Zodiac will be sent in to survey a safe passage through the coral 

reef so the cat can land as close as possible.  A catamaran can

venture into relatively shallow water as it does not have a keel,

unlike a conventional mono-hull vessel.
