About this Trip

This is not a full-on DXpedition...

...rather a quick survey trip with a small crew of five primarily for the reconnoitre of Mellish Reef to help facilitate the planning of a return trip back on Mellish Reef later in 2002.

The team plan to be on the reef for approximately four days and will operate H.F. continuously along with one 6M station while they are there.

As the team are sailing to the reef the actual on-air time is weather dependant but nominally Saturday April 21, 2001 local morning.

Transport to the Reef will be the 43' catamaran "Bach and Byte", the same vessel used on the VK9WI DXpedition in May 2000.

A full-on DXpedition returning with up to 15 people running several HF stations (all modes) together with a 6M station is expected to cost around AUD$65,000 to stage.  Most of this cost is associated with chartering an appropriate vessel to get a larger team there and back with all the necessary equipment.
