Welcome

ALICE SPRINGS

Alice  Springs lies almost in the geographical centre of Australia.

It is  about 1,500 kilometers from the nearest major city.

Alice  Springs to Adelaide 1316 km

Alice to Darwin 1305 km.

Alice to Sydney 2030 km.

In other words we are in the middle of all the beaches in Australia and furthermost away from them all.

The town sits astride the Stuart Highway which is a ribbon of bitumen about 3,000 kms long North to South. The highway gets it’s name from

the famous explorer John MacDouall Stuart who transversed the continent

from Nth to Sth.We also have a railway just built that now goes from Adelaide to  Darwin.

The  climate in Alice is why most people stay here, most of the year it never goes below 20 Celsius during the day.Night can be a chilly -6 Celsius in winter but not very often, maybe three or four times in winter. In summer it is a different story as it can reach 44+ Celsius during the day and maybe  30 c overnight, even for guys like myself that have been here about twenty years it gets a bit hot sometimes.

If you ever get or plan  to come to Alice Springs make sure you allow enough  time because there is plenty to see.there is the East and West McDonnell  Ranges,Palm valley,Gemtree(gem fields) and a host more places.Uluru (Ayers  Rock) is 475 k’s by road or 4.5-5hrs drive or about one hours  flying.
