Hello Everyone. Thanks for looking at my website.
We're located in the Australian Bush here where it's fairly isolated. The nearest town is about 10 klms away.
There is plenty of room for antennas...
This multiband HF groundplane using the Hustler 6BTV vertical is used mainly on 30 and 40 metres...
The other antennas include a 300 feet per leg Vee Beam and a 2 element, 5 band, HF Cubex Quad
at a height of 10 metres...
Being in the 'middle of nowhere' we're using Solar Power... The station is run by a large 12 Volt, 670
Amp Hour, lead acid, deep cycle battery which is charged by the energy from the Sun via an 80 watt solar panel...
The lead acid battery is old technology but reliable... The life expectancy is 10 years or more...
If you would like to see how to set up a solar powered station - click here
The background noise level on the radios is 'strength zero'... Icom and Yaesu radios are used on the HF bands
( the IC-7600 and the FT-450 )... I operate mainly morse code and also the digital modes, usually PSK31 using
a Dell laptop computer running the MixW software...
Run by the Sun
The Links below include - A video tour of this shack, information about the Vee Beam antenna,
photos of the construction of the Cubex Quad antenna and a slideshow of Ham Radio images set to music...
