 BAND OPERATIONS

Grade of Licence: 
Unrestricted.
I am licensed to work all amateur bands.
(160m to 1.25 cm (24 GHz).)

Prefererred Modes:
SSB, on 20m, 15m, and 80m (in that order).
CW (QRS!!)
FM on 2 m and 70 cms.

I work 160 m to 70cms.

VHF/UHF BANDS
6m:       3 ele. Yagi (Not yet in use.)
6m, 2m, 70cms and 23 cms.: Diamond D-130j Discone.. (Height 6m AGL)

2m and 70 cms. AHARS Jpole.
2m and 70 cms.:  SAREG 2m collinear.  (Height 11m AGL.)
2m and 70 cms.:  Brainer mag. mount. (Mobile).

 

Antennas:
Left (white antenna) : SAREG 2m/70 cms

Centre (mast): Top - AHARS J-pole
Feed point to shack from G5RV. Ladder line slopes down to right from the cross beam.

HF BANDS

PORTABLE:

BASE:

Asahi  AS-303. Centre loaded whip. 80m to 10m. 
Tunes up via antenna tuner, on: 80m, 40, 20, 15m and 10m.
Bushcomm 80m - 10 m whip

Portable 2 element Tri-band Yagi.
(Also used as base antenna.)

 G5RV:   Height: 9 metres Above Ground Level (AGL)
Horizontal length: 2 x 15.3 metres . (full size)
Ladder line: 10.03m long (1/2 wave on 20m). Spacing 40mm.
No balun - direct connect to 12 metres of RG213 coax.
Kenwood AT230 tuner.
Operates on: 80m, 40m, 20m, 18m,15m, 12m, 10m.

Further Notes on G5RV
ORIENTATION:
Runs approx. East-west - i.e. radiates "best" to north and south
From experience, this antenna also gets in well to Europe (north west),
and reasonably well into North America (north east), on 15 and 20 metres.
On 80 metres, works very well into all Australian states (ie east, west, north & south!)
CONSTRUCTION:
Centre support: metal pole 7 metres long.
End supports: Large pine tree (about 11 metres AGL) and gum tree (about 8 metres AGL).

HEIGHT of base above sea level: 250 metres.
Ground slopes to the north, down away from the antenna base, into a small valley.

Best on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 12m.
Also operates well on 160m with "long wire" patch.
