VK4ZQ Profile

Hello, my name is Roy and I have been a Radio Amateur since 1957. Currently I operate all frequencies from 1.8Mhz to 24Ghz. I am  involved in a variety of Amateur Radio activities with a special emphasis on Satellite Communication. I first became interested in Satellites with the launch of Sputnik and I have actively communicated through all the Amateur Satellites since OSCAR 6. OSCAR 40 was launched in 2000 and commissioned for service last year (2001). It is the largest Amateur Satellite to be launched so far and is currently operating very successfully with very strong signals on the 2.4Ghz downlink. More details about this satellite can be found at AMSAT_DL.

I have an interest in  Computers and run a Windows 2000 network including "Wireless Networking Nodes (802.11b/g)" in the shack and connect to the Internet via a router and cable Modem. I also enjoy building 2.4Ghz Antenna for computer Networking. These take the form of Verticals, Helical and Dish Designs.

I am also interested in using the internet to explore "voice over IP" and I am at present using "echolink and echomac".
