VK100WIQ - Centenary of Radio - 2012



On the 29th July 2012, the club put the VK100WIQ callsign to air for the centenary of 100 years
of organised Amateur Radio in Queensland.  Ken VK4QH hosted the event at his QTH and 3 positions
were available for operators. 

Alan concentrated on CW on 20 meters while others swapped about on 15 and 40 meters SSB.

150 contacts were made while we socalised and BBQ'd for lunch.

About the Callsign

To celebrate our Centenary, the Queensland Advisory Committee and the Directors in Queensland had decided on a several special events.

The main event was one that all Amateurs in Australia, if not the world participated in the form of our Centenary call sign VK100WIQ.

The Call Sign was rostered throughout the Radio Clubs of Queensland in three day blocks.

Special QSL cards were sent out to all contacts.
