The clubs repeater has been failing to operate at night when it's being used.
New batteries were desperately needed as the existing ones have been in since the 5th of March 2007.
That's a good 6 years of operation and the batteries have seen better days.
A working Bee was organised to replace the batteries and give the site a badly needed
maintenance review.
The old Repeater was swapped out for repaired Motorola system.
The packet beacon had not been working so it was brought back for testing and found to be OK.
All that was needed was to reprogram the clubs name since its change.
Problems found at the repeater site was rusty fuse (to be replaced) on the packet beacon, and a faulty connector on 6V battery joiner cable.
On Sunday the 28th April, we returned and replaced the fuse and bad battery joiner.
It was decided to add an exhaust fan to the battery compartment to extract any acid
fumes that caused our problems in the first place.
Ken found the repeater hiding behind tall grass.. whipper snipper in hand.
