RC8
Built by Radio Corporation of Melbourne during World War 2. This set is a HF transmitter/receiver which was popular on smaller vessels, or on larger vessels for talk between ships. A remote control unit allowed bridge operation. One of these
was used aboard HMAS Diamantina. HELP, I need a power supply and antenna tuner for this rig, or a complete rig would be appreciated.
COMMENTARY
The RC8 is a transmitter/receiver which covers 2-10Mcs. It is capable of CW, MCW or AM. The receiver is a superheterodyne type, which uses 1 series valves. The transmitter oscillator operates from 2-5Mcs, and doubles in the power
amplifier for the range 5-10Mcs. The oscillator may be crystal controlled or VFO type. A single 807 is used as the final. Power output is 20Watts. The aerial filter unit couples the set to various antennas. The remote control unit
allows remote operation. This is useful on ships where the equipment would be in the radio room and the remote control unit is placed on the bridge.
