The 696 set, or outfit CUJ is a UHF transceiver, built by Plessey for the Admiralty.

COMMENTARY
The 696 set is a UHF transceiver. It was used by the RN and RAN. I don't know a lot about this set although I do know it was used on attack class patrol boats as the rack and cables for mine came off HMAS Aware.
CONSTRUCTION
Another Admiralty design, although it is not what I would call classical admiralty layout. The accessories used are typical admiralty components. The actual radio set however looks like it would be more at home on an aircraft.
