VK4CP/6 Portable Operation from Broome, Western Australia
October 25 - November 3, 2002   Grid Locator: PH12cb     This article appears in "Six News" Issue 76 March 2003.
The last chance for Europeans to work VK on 6M this cycle?
Being on the downward slide of cycle 23 it was most unlikely that much DX would be worked from my home town of Brisbane.  What to do?  If the DX doesn't come to you then move to where the DX will probably occur... the north western coast of Australia!
Broome was selected as the location for my portable operation for the simple reason that there was an airport in town making the trip fly-in, fly-out.  The only resident amateur in Broome is Bill Webber, VK6JQ, a callsign that will be familiar to many.  Bill is generally regarded as the front-line of VK and the only regular 6m operator in VK6 outside of the capital city, Perth.
Broome is 1,700km NNE of Perth
