Situated between 10 - 29 degrees South latitude and between 138 - 154 degrees East longitude.
It is approximately the same latitude in the Southern hemisphere as Fiji, Tahiti and Rio De Janerio and within the same latitude in the Northern hemisphere as Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Referred to as the "Sunshine State" it has a very livable climate!
Weather conditions vary dramatically between temperate in the South to tropical in the North and becoming very dry and arid inland. On average major cities enjoy 300 days of sunshine per year. Many homes have swimming pools!
The Queensland Coastline extends for more than 7,400km. When the Islands are included this becomes 9,800km.
Of the six states Queensland ranks 2nd in size (WA,QLD) & 3rd in population (NSW,VIC,QLD).
