Welcome to the BARC news sheet, the last one for 2010
Meetings
At the last meeting on 26th November the club had a visit from Bob Purves GM4IKT, who lives at Port Seton in Scotland. Bob gave us a talk on amateur radio in Scotland. We were surprised to learn that there is no annual fee an amateur radio licence. The club website is cpsarc.com. There is lots of information and newsletters on the site. When he returns home he is going to write an article for the newsletter on his visit to our club.
Ron VK4EV also gave a talk on end fed ½wave dipoles.
The next meeting on 10th December will be our break up night. Bring your xyl/girlfriend or both and bring a plate of goodies to share. The club will provide soft drink, tea and coffee.
The meeting in January will be Friday 28th.
Nets
The club nets will take a break over Christmas.
The last HF net will be on Monday 6th December 2010 and resumes on Monday 24th January 2011.
The last VHF net will be on Wednesday 8th December 2010 and resumes on Wednesday 26th January 2011.
The 8am net Mon-Fri will continue on 146.550 MHz until 8.30am then switch to the 70cm repeater on 439.950 MHz with 123Hz sub audible tone.
Repeater
The club has ordered the necessary equipment to enable us to program the computer to our requirements whenever we need to do so.
Birthdays
The only member I know is having a birthday during the break is Frank VK4XK, on 26th January. All Australia celebrates Frank's birthday each year by having a public holiday. Best wishes from us all Frank and have a great day. That goes for any other member who is having a birthday.
Signoff
All that remains now is to say, on behalf of Management Committee is
Merry Christmas
