INAUGURAL MEETING
The Inaugural meeting of the H.M.A. Ex Cruisers Association was held at the
Kedron Wavell Services Club, Hamilton Road Chermside, Brisbane, Queensland
Australia 16th August 1987. Of course the main interest in any new
association is the reuniting of old shipmates who had parted company on
discharge and have not seen each other since those eventful days. Another
reason in forming this association was to perpetuate the memory of the
Royal Australian Navy's Seven Cruisers and the three AMC's later to become
LSI's. Australias largest warships throughout the Second World War were
the three heavy 8" Cruisers H.M.A.S Australia, Canberra and Shropshire and
four light 6" Cruisers H.M.A.S Adelaide, Hobart,Perth and Sydney. We
have
six bi-monthly meetings per year, these being held at
Kedron Wavell Services Club
PO Box 107
Hamilton Road Chermside
Australia, 4032
These meetings start from February and are held on the third Sunday every
two months at 1130am for 1230 pm luncheon. All members and partners, who
by the way, automatically become associate members, are very welcome.
Membership is open to all those who served in a cruiser at any time.
