Some Station details from VK3CAE (Ex VK3JEG)

You'll not find much in the way of new gear in my shack... Most of this stuff was purchased second or third hand, working or not.

YAESU FT-23r 2M FM hand-held.

MODIFIED COMMERCIAL

AWA 25M-22 low-band FM (circu 1973) converted to 6M operation with 6 Channel crystal control.

AWA 25M-23 High-band FM (1973 also) converted to 2M with the addition of a home-brew VK3AGM
Programmable divider, PLL and LED frequency readout, 25 kHz steps (a mid 80's M.A.R.C project)...

PHILIPS FM 92 A Band - VHF mobile, reprogrammed and tuned to 2M FM simplex & repeater operation (99 Ch with CTCSS)

PHILIPS FM 92 U Band - UHF mobile, reprogrammed and tuned to 433 - 440 MHz FM simplex & repeater operation (99 Ch with CTCSS)

PHILIPS FM 92 W1 Band - UHF mobile, reprogrammed and tuned to 477 MHz FM simplex & repeater operation (48 Ch with SELCALL)

RECEIVERS

AOR AR5000A (+3 optioned) LF, MF, HF, VHF, UHF (Basically no gaps to 3 GHz), I’ve found this to be an excellent all mode comms Receiver.

AOR AR8000 Hand Held Scanning receiver, AM, SSB (of sorts), FM, FMW coverage to 1.95 GHz (with lots of birdies).

ICOM IC-R2 palm size communications receiver 500kHz to 1320MHz, AM, FM & FMW (a great little receiver)
Here's all the stuff you need to program the little R2 from a PC...
icr2r101.zip & OPC-478 schm.

McKay Dymek DR 22, HF Communications Receiver, 75 kHz to 29.7 MHz, PLL Digital readout (circu 1978).
No restoration required other than a good clean-up, did replace electrolytics as a matter of practice.

BARLOW WADLEY XCR-30 Mk2, MF-HF, AM-SSB Portable communications receiver (circa 1972).
Restored to almost former glory from a rather sad state.

DRAKE SSR-1, MF-HF, AM-SSB Communications receiver (circu 1975), still in good order (small marks only).

EDDYSTONE Model EC10 Mk2, MF-HF Communications receiver (circu 1971) with BFO for CW/SSB.
Carefully retuned with a slight modification to improve the original lack of BFO carrier level.

ANTENNA

A computer modelled 9 Element Yagi for 144-145MHz

Other Home brew Antennas

Dipoles for 80, 40, 20 & 15 Meters all on a common feed point, approx 12 mts above ground

Multiband Vertical for 40, 20 & 10 Meters. Length of 6.5 m with 4 x 5 m radials (a 5/8 wave on 10m)

1/2 wave J-Pole for local 6 M FM (currently not in use).
Co-linear verticals for 2M and 70 cm FM repeater & simplex use.
Turnstile Antenna, R.H.P (or clockwise pol) with reflector plane for 70 up & 2 down.
2M & 70cm vertical for mobile use, made from an old 27 Meg CB helical.

Commercial antenna's
Brainar dual band vertical for 2M & 70cm (operating H ~ 12 Metres)
ATN Log cell Yagis for 2m (8 element) and 70cm (13 element).

VHF / UHF Discone Antenna (unknown manufacturer, Low VSWR)
