Darwin, located on the northern coast of the Northern Territory is the capital city of VK8. The other major town is Alice Springs, 2500 Kms to the south. There are many national parks of significant interest towards
the north around Darwin but due to time and distance, I have been unable to get up that far. My VK8 travels are limited to the Simpson Desert region bordering on to South Australia and the ranges around Alice
Springs. The Stuart Highway from Port Augusta to Alice Springs was only sealed and realigned in the mid 1980s. The Stuart Highway north to Darwin was sealed in the second world war.
