Welcome to
VK2TTG's web site Antenna
Projects Antennas, a subject dear to my
heart, as is to many 'Ham' operators throughout the world! Antennas are
important, and can make the difference to 'making the contact' and not! More info about making ham
antennas can be found here (hamuniverse) V
Beam More info on the v-beam can be found here. Basically, I used
this simple design. I have to report, that although I am still testing the
antenna, and working on a better mounting method, this antenna does seem to
perform excellently. Here are some pics, and detail of the hub (made of wood
for now). G5RV This is another great antenna.
This is primarily my main station antenna currently. Useable from 80M to 6M
via an antenna tuner. Additional details of this wonderful antenna are
available here. Note however. I have
discovered a few things about this antenna. Although I can tune it to 160M
with my antenna tuner, it is unwise. 2ndly, I would suggest not using a balun
at the end of the feedline (especially if using high power, as core
saturation might reqult). I have ran the feeded directly to my antenna tuner
(it has balanced ant terminals). Also, I have simply used 300Ohm TV ribon as
the feeded for this antenna, with good success. You can probably just see that
this leg of the G5RV terminates just under that window on the right. Not
ideal, however shortly I hope to have this mounted along a pole to be mounted
to the left of that same window. It should be up approx 30 feet (approx 9 M).
It is interesting to note however, that even mounted as it is (bunched up),
the antenna still performs excellently. 6M - 70cm Beam Cushcraft make an excellent
beam. Model number A627013S. I have found this antenna to
perform very well. It is also well build, simple to assemble, and perform
well from 6M to 70cm. No, it's not mounted yet, but
at my last place, I used it with great success. Here's a pic of it
operational at my last home |
