Year 2000 JOTA pictures ONLINE BELOW

The Manly-Warringah Radio Society participates in many local community events, including the annual International Scouts & Guides Jamboree On The Air.

The Manly-Warringah Radio Society takes down a lot of their equipment to the JOTA site, which is usually Narrabeen "Lakeside Caravan Park". We setup our HF & 2m equipment in the different tents & this year we even had three HF stations on the air at once using a 3element beam at 30ft, an ED-52C (single trap for 80-40-20-15-10m) dipole & a G5RV dipole strung from the flying fox scaffolding. Our callsign, as in years gone by, was again VK2SNR. Although not many intercontinental DX stations were worked, there were many contacts around Australia & the Pacific.

We had a pin board up showing off QSL cards from around the world linked to where they came from on a Amateurs view world map. We had a foxhunt with multiple transmitters on a single frequency (many thanks due to Brian VK2BI for his equipement, travel & generous support).

Below there are a few snapshots from the JOTA event just passed in October 2000 (click on the thumbnails for a bigger picture):

JOTA Directions

JOTA Map If you go in the Lake Park Rd entrance off Pittwater Rd (you might have to park outside - there will be someone on the gate), go straight ahead (east) through the roundabout where you'll see a line of Norfolk Pines running East-West. We'll be halfway down on the Southern side of them. Look for the 3ele beam! About where the "V" is in "Caravan" on the included map.

JOTA Frequencies

These are the official suggested JOTA frequencies which, of course, are only a guide (the 80mSSB are useless to VKs). We will probably be on or about these on the Non-WARC bands.

80m 3740/3940 3590
40m 7090 7030
