Jack VK2CJC

My Yamaha XJ900 Diversion

I hold amateur radio callsigns VK2CJC, VK4AXL & MM0AXL.

Please note- I am not in the QSL bureau. I dont QSL any more.

I was born in Dumfries in South West Scotland in May 1967. I lived in Lockerbie until April 1995 when I moved to Johnstonebridge. In March 2000 I moved to Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia where I live now.

My wife Anne is also Scottish. She is from Moffat

I became interested in the magic of invisible radio waves in the 1970s. Getting my first transcievers on air towards the end of that decade. A few illegal milliwatts of AM on 49MHz. I moved to 27MHz CB radio in 1981 which led to an interest in atmospheric propagation and DX.

I became licensed on amateur radio in August 1993 as GM7POK with a "class B" VHF/UHF license. I operated mainly 145MHz FM and packet radio but also some SSB. I also worked a lot of 50MHz SSB DX. In March 1995 I added the "class A novice" license of 2M0AJW which allowed me onto a few small sections of HF with an output of 3 watts (wow!). I operated a lot of 28MHz SSB and 3MHz CW with this license. In April 1997 I finally got round to doing the 12 words per minute morse test and got the full unrestricted "class A" license of MM0AXL.

On moving to Australia I became VK2CJC. I also hold the license VK4AXL, although I dont use it at the moment.

I enjoy building my own radios. But I am no 'home brew' expert, I prefer kits with good instructions. I built and operate an Elecraft K2.

I am a member of the Mid North Coast Amateur Radio Group. I run their website and make short videos to promote the group.

My other hobbies are cars, motorcycles and amateur film making. More info about these when time allows.
