Jack Cook VK2CJC
I was born in Dumfries in South West Scotland on the 20th May 1967. I lived in Lockerbie until April 1995 when I moved to Johnstonebridge.
My wife Anne is also Scottish. She is from Moffat
I served an apprenticeship as a combined industrial electrician and instrumention technician in the Propafilm branch of the ICI plastics factory in Dumfries. I worked there for 15 years until the factory was closed in 1999. After that I drove trucks, serviced motorbikes and did anything i could.
I got my first Amateur Radio license of GM7POK in August 1993. This was a VHF/UHF only license. I sat the 5wpm morse test and got the callsign 2M0AJW in March 1995 which allowed me to use a few of the HF bands at low power. I operated these two callsigns together until April 1997 when I passed the 12wpm morse code test and got the full license call of MM0AXL . I retain this callsign and use it on visits to the UK.
In March 2000 we moved to Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia where we now live.
Since 2004 I have worked as a Spa and swimming pool service technician at a shop called Water World. Pools are common where I live and I spend most of my time repairing pumps, chlorinators, heating and control systems.
On moving to Australia I became VK2CJC .
See the How I got into amateur radio page for a more detailed story of what happened.
