I was first licenced in 1992 as VE7JCG. After a few years, I kind of drifted away
from the hobby, deciding to make a comeback in 2000. I was issued a new
call due to the original being gone, replaced the batteries in the HT and got back on the
air.
I've been enjoying the hobby more than ever, getting into contesting (2001 and 2002 CQWW, 2001 and 2002 RAC contests, 2002 Field Day), public service (Vancouver Sun Run, Vancouver International Marathon, Hyack Festival Parade), and emergency communications (VECTOR).
I maintain the net information page for the Internet Radio Linking Project, and occasionally participate on Echolink as well. I'm a member of the contest team at VE7SCC, the Coquitlam Amateur Radio Club.
Future plans include upgrading the HT (an ancient Icom 2SA), getting a mobile rig with battery backup for emergency communications, getting my code certification and getting on HF, trying out APRS, trying out VHF contesting, etc. It'll all come together someday...
If you have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I'm always available for IRLP or Echolink skeds.
