Various Noises

This is a page of various noises I've come across.

Calling all spooks!

The results of poking around HF on a Saturday night. Does this mean I need to get out more?

Time: 0335 UTC 23 January 2000. Local time: 2235 EST on 22 January. Frequency: 4638 kHz. Plain old AM, as far as I could tell.

The transmission continued like this until 0341 UTC, whereupon it stopped with the curt anouncement "End".

Another one. I guess even spooks sometimes have little to say. :-)

Time: 2250 UTC 26 March 2000. Local time: 1750 EST. Frequency: 13188 kHz. Mode: AM. Rumour has it this is a Mossad transmission.

AO-40!

After a very long time, AMSAT's Phase 3D satellite is in orbit, and has been assigned the number AO-40.
Time: 2315 UTC 19 November 2000. Range: about 15000 km. Frequency: a hair under 145.9 MHz. This is the classic 400 baud PSK telemetry beacon, just like AO-10 and AO-13.

Received on an IC-202 with a dipole antenna. Now to decode it...
