"Ernie" smiling after he received his "Island Activator Award of Excellence"
Ernest was one of the original guys that went out and made the word (activator) what it is today. One day i was counting how many islands that he had put on, and i lost count after i reached one hundred. I remember telling him about that feat, and he just jokingly said the next hundred will be much easier.
Ernest will be fondly remembered for being the gentleman that he really was. Easy going, and fun to be around. I ( WD8MGQ ), had the pleasure of staying at his house for a weekend party that Ernie threw a few years ago. During that time i got to know Ernest, and what kind of guy he really was. Always quick with a joke, and kind enough to laugh at mine. It has saddened me to know that I wont be hearing VE3NSZ in the pileups anymore, but
I know that he will be causing plenty of TVI up there in the sky. Keep up the good work Ernest!
