This is a 1970's vintage VEF-202
made in Riga, Latvia that I picked up at a hamfest quite cheap.
This particular version was designed for the domestic Soviet market.
Its a bit difficult to see in this photo, but all of the writing is in Russian
Cyrillic script. Its almost the same as the
VEF-206 pictured elsewhere
on this site except that it lacks coverage of the shortwave bands above
25 meters.
This
is a Philips
L4X26T of early 1960's vintage manufactured
in the Netherlands. I won this as a doorprize at an Ontario DX Association
meeting.
It covers the mediumwave (AM) broadcast band along with the shortwave spectrum
between 1.7 and 21 MHz.
It has a rectangular pop-up "loop" antenna for the shortwave bands.
This radio has incredible room-filling audio!
Interestingly, the cabinet is actually wooden but with a leather-type cover.
This unit is on my "rehab" list also because of leaky batteries.
Fortunately this one will be a much easier fix (when I get around to it....)
This is an RCA Model 85-T2 (serial
number 294) manufactured by RCA Victor in Montreal around 1937. A
family member found this radio at a yard sale.
It covers the AM broadcast band along with the shortwave bands between
6 and 18 MHz.
This radio will need some "major surgery" in order to get it working again.
At present its just being used as an "ornament".
I am looking for a schematic or any other information on this radio. If
you have any info please drop me an e-mail at
