National SET 0n November 03, was a great success!  14 Stations participated from our local group.  13 Messages Sent - 12 Received - 1 Outstanding - all in 2 hours.    HF / VHF / UHF bands were used; the ULR Link system was activated and traffic passed to the Peterborough EC; messages were passed on Simplex and relayed on by Packet to local destinations; APRS was implemented to relay traffic to the Grey County ARES EC APRS station via 2 local APRS stations.  Pactor was used to send a message via AirMail to the Internet back to a local destination.  Propagation restricted the opportunity to link to the Orillia / North Simcoe ARES EC using PSK31, but 2 local stations established a contact.  The OPN was utilized to pass traffic and summary reports to RAC officials.  Minor problems encountered on the ULR Link were overcome using IRLP but no takers on the traffic for London ARES EC/DEC.  We skipped the scheduled area repeater connections due to time restrictions.  Plans had been to pass traffic to Parry Sound, Muskoka, Owen Sound via 2m repeaters.

Emergency Planning Committee for the Municipality of Wasaga Beach invited a member of the SGBWS ARES to sit at their regular meetings to keep abreast of their needs and how ARES can be of assistance.  Requested a demonstraion of ARES capabilities during their Table Top exercise in early Spring 2002.

Presentation to the Blue Mountain ARC about ARES at their regular club meeting.  Good rapport and many interesting questions.  Guests included Brad - VE3RHJ - EC, ARES Grey County.

Continued training for ARES Response, NTS traffic, EOC - NCS operation training on Nov 05/01.  3 of 4 training seminars prior to year end have been delivered by - Greg - KC8KUG/VE3, Ken - VA3KEW, and Michael - VE3LKI.

NTS Liason Station - Ken - VA3KEW, no traffic to / from ARES group to the OSN and the OPN.  Formal net report traffic commenced during this month. Local traffic = 4

Digital Communications continue to develop in area.  Local Packet Digi - PENMID - provided by Darren - VE3REK, as well as a Packet BBS - VE3REK-1, on local frequency 144.970 / node frequency remains on 145.070.

More area stations now operating on Packet, PSK31, SSTV, RTTY.  Continued interest being shown in APRS for ARES work as well.  NTS messages can be forwarded very well on the APRS mode.

SGBWS Emergency Manual completed.  Delivery delayed to members.  Should be done during the month of December.

ARES data updated on local club website and ARES website weekly
