Like most HAMs, I have several mics for different occasions.
I have developed an "audio chain" that feeds my different
radios, so that I need only press one button to be able to
switch to a different microphone on the fly.
Sometimes, I even run several mics in concert to provide
nice, rich audio ... even on SSB!

My primary microphone is a Marshall MXL 990
gold sputtered, large diaphram condenser
studio mic which provides great audio
on a poor mans budget ;)

This mic uses a FET pre-amp, rather than a tube.

This is my Shure SM-7 studio microphone.

I also own an Apex 430
large diaphragm condenser microphone.

Apex 420 & 420 specs
You could consider the Apex as the "poor mans"
Neumann microphone. While it is inexpensive
compared to a Neumann, AKG, Shure or EV, it
provides impressive audio for the price!

I also have an Electrovoice EV-664.

Also in my collection is an old reliable Shure 444,

and of course, an Astatic D104

and a nice Turner 254 crystal mic

and lastely, a die-hard Turner Super Sidekick
