Chinese Cultural Club – Newsletters Archive – Subject: March Break Volunteering, CCC Skiing Up-date – March 11, 2004

Dear CCC members,                                                                          Thursday, March 11, 2004.

We wish you all a pleasant and enjoyable March Break.  This e-mail is intended to give our members a brief up-date about what is going on at the Chinese Cultural Club.

Thank you for helping out at the Canadian Cancer Society's Chinese Information Forum:

The Chinese Cultural Club would like to thank all members who volunteered to advertise for and at the Chinese Cancer Information Forum.  Reference letters and community service hour forms are now available.  Members may wish to arrange with Edward Choi for pick-up or pick it up at our next meeting, March 25, 2004 (Thursday) at 3:10pm in room 228.  Members who volunteered in both the advertising and at the event include:  Edward Choi, Simon Wong, Johnson Tse, Tracy Wu, Julia Wong and Peter Lew.  Volunteers who helped out for advertising only include:  Alfred Choi and Samuel Tan.  Volunteers who helped out at the event only include:  Oliver Lam, Tyra Chow, Lucia Kwok and Mike Nelson.  Special thanks to everyone.  The Cancer Society thanked everyone in our club for being very reliable and helpful during the event.  We appreciate your effort, time, responsibility and support to help the community.

Volunteer for the Chinese Telethon (Canadian Cancer Society):

Once again, the Chinese Cultural Club is partnering up with the Canadian Cancer Society to serve the Chinese community in the Chinese Telethon.  We are looking for 10 volunteers (5 males and 5 females).  Volunteers will act as telemarketers for the Canadian Cancer Society and will be filmed on Chinese television across Canada to advertise for the Canadian Cancer Society.  The will take place on Friday, March 19, 2004 (second Friday of March Break) from 12:45pm to 5:00pm at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, near Hwy. 7 and 404.

Interested members, please contact Edward Choi as soon as possible or send an e-mail to [email protected] indicating your interest.  We will use the first 5 males and first 5 females that we contact.  The Canadian Cancer Society has requested that we only send 5 males and 5 females; therefore, we thank all extra volunteers, but unfortunately they cannot be accommodated.

CCC Skiing/Snowboarding Trip:

As we have discussed during our last meeting (March 4, 2004), the Chinese Cultural Club is planning a ski/snowboarding trip soon, as a CCC social event.  However, this is a plan/proposal and is not yet finalized.  This will depend on the total number of members attending, and whether conditions (if there is sufficient snow available).  We are scheduling this for Sunday, March 21, 2004.  If you can drive, it will be most appreciated, please let us know.  At this time, we are still researching the different ski resorts and the prices they can offer us.  Any member who is interested, but have not yet signed up (from last meeting), please send an e-mail to [email protected] or contact Edward Choi or Johnson Tse.  Suggestions from all attendees are most welcome.

Suggestions WANTED:

The Chinese Cultural Club strives towards offering better services to our members, promoting and enriching the Chinese Culture, helping the community, and planning great events for our members, the school and the community.  In order to accomplish our goals we need your help.  Whenever you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, please let us know by talking to us during a meeting or sending an e-mail to [email protected]  As well, if you would be interested in planning a presentation at one of our meetings, that is very much appreciated, please let us know and we will schedule a meeting for you.  Ideas on meeting improvements, fundraising and events ideas, as well as other topics are needed.  Together, we will make the Chinese Cultural Club better.

Thank you for your kind attention.  We wish you all a safe and enjoyable March Break.

Yours sincerely,

Markville's Chinese Cultural Club (Edward Choi, Johnson Tse & Simon Wong)
