January 15, 2004 – Meeting Minutes:

Welcome Oliver Lam:

The Chinese Cultural Club welcomes Oliver Lam as our new Communications Co-ordinator and web master.  He will be helping our on our meeting attendance, web site, and other items needed to be done.

Chinese New Year:

The Chinese Cultural Club announces the winner of the Chinese Calligraphy Challenge at the Chinese & Korean New Year Celebration on January 14, 2004, first place winner is Irene F.  She has won our Infernal Affairs II VCD, generously donated by Mr. Chow.  It was hard to pick since there were two very good calligraphy pieces, Irene’s and Ruth’s calligraphy writing.  However, Irene’s was slightly better according to most of our judges.

Our involvement in the Chinese & Korean New Year Celebration was helpful to raise awareness and bring activities to our school such as the Chinese Calligraphy Challenge and Marble Pickup Challenge.  We thank all volunteers who offered their time at the celebration to make it possible.  Our volunteers includes:  Edward Choi, Simon Wong, Johnson Tse, Glenn Lau, Edward Wong, Kelvin Yung, Amanda Chan and Roy Wong.  A special thanks to Mr. Chow who generously donated $20 to our club used for purchasing Chinese Calligraphy materials and Infernal Affairs II VCD for Chinese Calligraphy Challenge prize.  We would also like to Ms. Reid and her class for making and putting up decorations for us and the Student Activity Council who invited us to participate in this event and offered $10.50 for candies to give out in our activities.

A group of members are planning their ROM fieldtrip for Friday, January 16, 2004.

Happy Chinese New Year to everyone.
