February 19, 2004: meeting minutes:

T-shirts/sweatshirts: As suggested by members last week for club shirts, we have found available t-shirts for around $15 and sweatshirts for $25. Not

much members were interested when asked this meeting; therefore, it will be re-considered. Opinions about this and other topics are always welcome, please e-mail to [email protected]

-Volunteer to raise awareness of cancer for the Chinese community:

The Chinese Cultural club is planning to help the Canadian Cancer Society to educate the Chinese community about cancer and give information to

those interested and affected. The Canadian Cancer Society is organizing an event, called “The Chinese Cancer Information Forum” with information for the Chinese community on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at North York Centre. The Chinese Cultural Club plans to help in advertising (posting posters) in the Chinese community throughout the Greater Toronto Area prior to the event, in Chinese malls, supermarkets, restaurants, and other public areas, with the permission of the tenant of these establishments. We have asked members who are interested and the following is a list:

-Presentations:

Thank you to Simon Wong for sharing a presentation with us on Chinese politics. The presentation included information on the history, political information and other interesting facts about China and the world.

Also, Edward Choi has shown pictures of cities in China with some brief introduction (Hong Kong, Beijing, Xian, Gulin and Shanghai)
