To: pa5ls at home.nl, elecraft at mailman.qth.net Hi Check out this keyboard keyer. It has a relay contact output to plug into the K1/2 and with a computer keyboard you can type in your message and it outputs code. It also has several memories. I built one of these and it works great. It is stand alone and does not require a computer. Runs on 12 volts. I will build it into the new K1 project box with a small 12 volt gel cell and a solar charge controller. I found a super mini keyboard to use with it. Its a full AT style keyboard only 6 x 11.5 inches the keys are full travel not like the laptop keyboard. code generator: http://www.morsex.com/mx/index.htm#keyboard keyboard: http://www.jdr.com/interact/item.asp?itemno=BTC-5100C Don Brown KD5NDB K2 #1808,#2174,#2153 sold - number 4 on order K1 #1000,#542 for sale ++++++++++++++++++ Date: Sat, 05 Jan 2002 21:29:53 +1300 To: Elecraft From: Ron ZL1TW Subject: [Elecraft] External keyers....paddle operated and keyboard. Greetings all, I see keyboard CW senders being mentioned, and thought it might be in context to mention that there are great CW keyer chips and a keyboard sending chip available in the US of A. The web site to look on is http://members.aol.com/k1el Amusingly enough the keyer chips are all designated with a "K" number !! I have a K10 chip here which is a variable speed keyer with 5 memories, and lots of features. I actually built up the K10 keyer before I indulged myself in Elecraft products, but still occaisonally use it with the K1 and K2 . There is a K20 chip available that drives a standard keyboard for sending ...it has a type ahead buffer and can be set for any speed. Personally I find nothing wrong with the keyer in the K1 and K2, but for those who like making gizmos that work fine in conjunction with the K1 and K2 the web site I quote is well worth a look. Cheers......Ron ZL1TW +++++++++++++++++
