Vron, I think I can help, as I just had this same problem myself three days ago and wrote Elecraft support. Sounds like you have the same version of the K1 manual which I did which is rev C. There has been a change to it which states the following: Quote: Install r39 on the bottom of the board near crystal X6. Note: R39 is only present on the revision E(or Later) RF board. If you board is revision D or earlier, install R39 as follows: 1. locate RP4, in the back-left corner of the RF Board near the key jack. 2. On the bottom of the board, solder one end of R39 to pin 1 of RP4 (round pad). Keep the lead length very short. 3. Solder the other lead of R39 to the nearby ground pad for crystal X6. This pad can be easily identified on the top side of the board; it has the "X6" label directly above. UnQuote. The only other thing you have to do is solder Cap C76 across the resistor, in other words, solder one leg of the cap to each side of the resistor you installed as R39. Again, you have to keep the legs of the cap very short. I actually soldered the cap to each side of the resistor before I installed R39 between pin 1 and the ground to X6, then bend the cap down toward the board so that it does not contact the bottom cover when you reinstall it. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have questions. 73 de Bill, AB5XQ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
