It will allow you to use transverters to either transmit or receive AO-40. In working AO-40 or any other satellite you need to be able to hear yourself to help compensate for dopper and make sure you are on the right freq. I currently run a Yeasu FT-847 to work AO-40 with a UEK-3000 Downconverter for 2.4 gig. From what I can determine in order to use the K2 for any portion you will need some downconverters. For instance: You could use a Ten-tec 10m to 2m transverter and then a 2.4gig Downconverter from either SSB (or the UEK-3000) or a Transystem downconverter, DEM or whatever. Essentially you go from 10m to 2m to 2.4 gig. Some guys are using something of this nature for receiving. Just be careful in that if you transmit into your 2.4 downconverter it is most likely TOAST! I CANNOT emphasize that enough! Not that I know this from experience or anything!Hi. As for 440 I think Hamtronics sells a transverter for the satellite portion for a 10m IF. So you could have two K2's and have one with a 440 transverter and another K2 with a 2m transverter with 2.4 downconverter. Yes it would add up as for money goes BUT HEY! Think of all the building time you would have in! I have a working AO-40 station but have SERIOUSLY considered building other kits (AFTER I get my K2 finished!) and try the above. I guess I haven't really answered your question but if you want to work Sats and do it in a more easy fashion then go buy a Yaesu FT-847, Kenwood 2000, Icom 910 or something of that caliber. If you want an learning experience then you can do it the fun way and build it all. Besides AO-40 is fixing to go dormant for about 3 months or so. So you will have time to put all this together!Hi. Hope this helps! Tnx & 73... Rick Tilton ARS - N4WYK n4wyk at arrl.net n4wyk at amsat.org Foothills of NC APRS and Satellite Website http://www.n4wyk.com +++++++++++++++++++
