Bev, the author of BeaconSee has some K2 specific commands that I forwarded, having changed PCs at this end I lost the e-mail and settings. Kenwood commands will work but beware of needing to use VFO A on the K2 otherwise it changes band but doesn't set the correct frequency. Logger has the same issues with VFO A/B. 73's Dave, G4AON K2 #189 +++++++++++++++++ Subject: RE: [Elecraft] OT: Logging software Date: Thu, 6 Mar 2003 18:59:12 -0800 From: "Andreas Hofmann" To: , I am in the same situation as you. I did some research and settled with XmLog. Works great but the search feature is kind of clumsy (too many button clicks or key strokes to get past QSOs). If you can wait a couple of weeks with your decision, you might want to check out Logger 32. It is currently in BETA testing and is supposed to be released soon. The screenshots on the website (google for 'Logger 32') look AMAZING. I use it, find it easy to use and it's totally functional...has tons of stuff I don't use...like packet and psk windows...I do use the Telnet Window for DX Spotting...and the best part is it is in your price range....it's Free.......of course he always accepts donations. It is not only a log, it can also work with DX packet clusters, track ARRL DXCC awards, CQ WAZ awards, QSLs sent/rcvd, and a number of other useful goodies. If your radio has an I/O port (KIO2 or KPA100) , you can set it up so the the log is automatically on the band and mode that your radio is on, so there's no need to manually log those parameters. It even has something like GeoClock, whereby you can view the sunrise/sunset terminator on the Earth's surface (very useful to 160m and 80m DXers). You can track FISTS numbers, etc., in the "comments" column of the log. 73, de Earl, K6SE ++++++++++++++++++ To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 16:45:01 +0000 From: k6iii at juno.com Subject: [Elecraft] Logging Software I just wanted to agree with Earl. I like "Logger". It tracks an awful lot of stuff for you. And you can log FISTS and K1/K2 serial numbers in the Comments area. But.... I don't think you can search the Comments to see if you have worked a particular number. I keep track of these numbers in a separate excel spread sheet. I can search it easily enough. de Jerry/k6iii San Jose, CA +++++++++++++++++++++ Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2003 11:41:04 +0200 From: dl1iaq at t-online.de (Martin) Reply-To: Martin Organization: chaotic To: "elecraft-request at mailman.qth.net" Subject: [Elecraft] Logger32 available Hi, just wanted to inform you that Logger32 now is available for download at www.qsl.net/kc4elo Logger32 is freeware and sure worth a try. I donīt know if it can communicate with a K2 cause I have no KIO2. The older version, Logger16, has been my favourite Logging-software so far and Logger32 is ...well, see for yourself. 73, Martin ++++++++++++++++++
