Hi Dave, Direct frequency entry requires 5 digits in most cases. Some obvious special cases require only 4 digits: for example, 3xxx-4xxx selects 80 meters. But in the case of 5xxx, it is waiting for a fifth digit--to put you somewhere on 6 meters. Your K2 doesn't have 6 meters built in (not many do :) so it will switch you to the next closest band when you hit that 5th digit, and in this case it's 10 meters. (If you have one of the transverter bands programmed as 6 meters, you can do in-band direct frequency entry to 5xxxx, as described in the K2 Rev 2 firmware manual.) The reason we took this approach is that the VCO won't tune to 5 MHz anyway. You could try to tune down from 7 MHz to 5 MHz, but the VCO will lose lock at some point. 73, Wayne N6KR +++++++++++++++++
