You should have excellent contrast both when viewing it from straight ahead and from above. Could you have removed the stiff top polarizer layer by mistake when you removed the thin flexible protective film from the from of the display? If that isn't it, you may have the resistors that set the display bias voltage on the PCF8566 display controller installed wrong. You might want to check your voltages there against the table in the manual. If you can't figure out what is going wrong, please feel free to contact Gary at support at elecraft.com 73, Eric WA6HHQ Craig Taylor wrote: > > What needs to be changed to improve the brightness of the K2 display. Do you mean that the LCD doesn't have enough contrast? That isn't normal. Check the values of R15 and R16. You should have 5 volts on pin 5 of U1 and 2 volts on pin 12. If that's OK you might have a problem with the driver or LCD itself. I had installed R15/R16 on the Front Panel board backwards (switched with each other). When I put them in right, it worked fine! I recall that there was some confusion on my part as to which order to install them in, so you might want to double-check those two resistors. 72/73, Andy Meng N8MX Cincinnati, OH n8mx at yahoo.com www.qsl.net/n8mx www.n8mx.com (mirror) QRP-L NorCal FPqrp #-8 K2 #177 Sophomore at St. Xavier HS Check out the MultiPIG 20 Transceiver (build in progress): www.qsl.net/n8mx/mp20/multipig.html www.fpqrp.com/pigg20 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
