This type of problem is usally caused by having turned the VFO a very long way on a particular band, so that its true identify has been obscured. The cure (usually) is to use direct frequency entry. First, hold BAND+ and BAND- together until you see "-----" (five dashes). Then enter "21000" (etc.). This forces the K2 firmware to switch to the selected frequency and set all of the relays correctly for 15 meters. > It is not possible to select 21 MHz by direct frequency entry whilst > holding down both 'Band +' and 'Band -'. Are you sure you're doing it as I described above? I've never seen direct frequency entry not work. > If memory serves me well I think recent selections of 21 MHz have been > accompanied by a noise through the speaker not apparent with changes > to other bands. Sounds like a relay problem --- but which one? > Before I worry Gary with this because we already have some unfinished > business does anyone have any thoughts? Even if you had a relay problem, direct frequency entry should still place you on the correct band. If this fails, I suggest doing a full reset; perhaps EEPROM storage has become corrupted somehow. First write down all filter and BFO selections in CAL FIL, as well as menu settings, if you're not using the defaults. Then turn the K2 off, and hold 4+5+6 on power-up. You'll need to do CAL PLL and CAL FIL again. 73, Wayne N6KR ++++++++++++++++
