Something I forgot to mention on the construction ( just in case somebody out there doesn't already know this ). The new K1s have a switch added on the bottom of the RF board to turn on the carrier osc for setting the transmit offset during alignment. It is normally left in the OPER position, and in TEST only when setting the offset. During initial receiver alignment and test you have been told to put it in OPER. The receive aligned and checked out great. I then went on to finish the transmitter construction. Upon turning the rig back on, there was a low frequency oscillation in the receive audio. I spent about an hour trying to figure out what I had done to cause it, before noticing that the switch had been bumped into the TEST position. The oscillator was running, thus the sound on receive. Just something to remember... wish I'd have read ahead and known what that switch was for, it would have saved several minutes of feeling stupid. 73 / 72 Bob WB8CAC K1 1150 +++++++++++++++++++
