When you work a station without an Elecraft rig, enter "none" for the other op's name, otherwise enter "####&&", where "####" is the serial number & "&&" is the model (example 2440K2). W4FMS asked me for a template for NA to be used in the EQP this weekend. Unlike VR2BG's offering for TRLog (a text file), the NA template is a binary file and would have to be included as an attachment. Since the reflectors will probably lose the attachment, I will offer to send this to any individuals who wish to check it out for use this weekend. If you do want it though, please save the info below so I won't need to retype it.... Hi Frank, That was really quite easy! Here is your template for the EQP, I'll also offer it on the Elecraft and QRP-L websites. But I still won't be using it myself. :-) Copy the file, EQP.CRT to the \NA\CRT directory. You have three fields in which to enter info. The first is received RST, the third is SPC. Obvious entries... The middle field is titled "K*/Info" If no info is received (station wasn't using an Elecraft rig), you MUST enter "NONE" (or anything else - but the field must have an entry). If station sends K1 or K2 info, enter "K2/0438" (that's my S/N). The field will take very few non-alpha/numeric characters and the "/" is the one obvious one that it accepts. DO NOT hit space bar after "K2" as that will put you in the SPC field. If you do prefer a blank between K2 and 0438, use the right-arrow key to skip a position. There will be one position left at the end of the field (eight total) - add "F" there if the station is a field tester. For power, I'm assuming you will use the same throughout the contest. NA will mult your QSO's by 3 if you're QRP. If you're between 5 and 15 watts, you are "low power" and will get a X2 mult. If you are over 15W, you are high power and get X1. On second thought, I may use this myself. For the hours that the EQP and SOC Marathon Sprint are on together, I can just jot SOC # or Power on a separate piece of paper - or enter it into NA as a note (CTRL-N)... -- 73, Bob Patten, N4BP Plantation, FL E-Mail: n4bp at arrl.net Website: http://www.qsl.net/n4bp ++++++++++++++++++++ From: "Mike Walkington" To: "Elecraft Reflector" Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 05:27:04 -0800 Subject: [Elecraft] EQP Logger Hi Ron, I'm actually not in Australia, I'm in Seattle USA. Old habits die hard, so I have the computer set up to use ddmmyy format for the date, but the time-zone is set to Pacific Standard Time, and yes I did set the UTC correctly. I'm sure that EQPLogger is getting some conflicting signals from the OS. Its a neat utility and I'm looking forward to using it this weekend, I'll probably adjust the computer's date format for the weekend. By the way, it wouldn't be the first application to be confused by my set up. 73s Mike AC7MZ (also VK1KCK) K2 #2599 +++++++++++++++++++++ From: "Deinhardt, Toby" To: Elecraft Reflector Subject: AW: [Elecraft] EQP Logger Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 15:14:09 +0100 I have my laptop set up for Germany, which means I use the ddmmyy format too, and yes the EQP Log utility does get a bit confused. The time is ok but the date is off. vy 73 de toby ++++++++++++++++++++++ To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 23:24:46 +0000 From: k6iii at juno.com Subject: [Elecraft] Using Telnet for EQP Spots - a tutorial I have been telneting over to N7TR.COM to get and make DX spots. I expect I will be connected there this weekend for the EQP. Perhaps some reader don't know how to use the Windows Telnet. You might try this and see if it is useful to you. By the way, there are a large number of sites you can Telnet to; N7TR is just one of them. How to connect: In Windows Desktop, poke on the START button (usually Lower Left Hand corner). This will bring up a list of items.... choose RUN... In the Run pop-up window, enter 'telnet n7tr.com' (without the apostrophes). This should bring up a Telnet session and connect you to N7TR. You will be prompted to enter your call sign. Do that. To show any DX, enter the command: SH/DX - this will show you the last 5 spots. SH/DX/20 - will show the last 20 spots SH/DX/10 40 - will show you the last 10 spots on the 40-meter band, only SH/DX VR2BG - will show you the last 5 spots for station VR2BG Use the HELP command to get help on the many commands available. For example HELP SHOW will get you a list of all the SHOW (SH) commands and their formats. To post a spot, enter this command: DX For example: DX K6III 14060.4 EQP K2 op There are a number of FILTERS available, too. Try HELP SH/FILTERS Try HELP SET/FILTERS I usually set up a filter to see only Spots coming from USA and Canada. This cuts down the clutter coming across the screen. Try the command SET/FILTERS K,VE/PASS To clear any filters use the command: SET/NOFILTER Experiment and have some fun with this. It certainly is a useful tool. To end your Telnet session, enter the command QUIT (or BYE). Then close the Telnet window. I'm not expert at this but perhaps I can help you if you have some difficulty. Send me an email at k6iii at juno.com As I said, this is just one of many Telnet sites for spotting DX. Perhaps some readers will want to mention others. They all work about the same way, i.e. use about the same command set. See ya in EQP this weekend. Make those spots, especially if you find a FT (Field Tester) working on any particular frequency. 73 de Jerry/k6iii San Jose, CA ++++++++++++++++++ To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net Date: Wed, 5 Mar 2003 00:15:13 +0000 From: k6iii at juno.com Subject: [Elecraft] Re: Using Telnet for EQP Spots - site lists On Tue, 4 Mar 2003 23:56:58 +0000 writes: > John, > I did a google search on "DX telnet sites" and go a list of 9 finds. > > Take a look at this web page: > http://www.ve9dx.com/telnet/sites.html > about a zillion sites to connect to there! > > Here's another web site: > http://www.cpcug.org/user/wfeidt/Misc/cluster.html > > Hope that helps. > > Jerry/k6iii +++++++++++++++++++ From: "Timothy Jones" To: elecraft at mailman.qth.net Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2003 11:27:42 -0500 Subject: [Elecraft] EQP Contesting software For those of you who use Writelog as contesting software Steve N9OH has written a contest module for the EQP which can be downloaded from http://wlmods.n9oh.com it is listed in the bottom section under "BETA" software.
