I purchased the kit about a year ago and use it to power my notebook computer. I boost my auto or camper 12V battery voltage to the 20V that the computer requires. The author cautions about RF noise on the HF bands, but with careful construction, should not be a problem. I haven't heard a peep of RF from mine. His project was written up in the July 1997 QST beginning on page 40. I think I paid about $20 for the kit.
